Description
A wooden icon of Saint John the Forerunner and Baptist featuring a high-quality digital print in colours inspired by traditional Byzantine iconography and decorative gold leaf details. Protective plexiglass has been placed over the central image to preserve and beautifully highlight the depiction of the Saint.
Saint John is called the “Forerunner” because he prepared the way for the coming of Jesus Christ by calling people to repentance. He is also known as the “Baptist” because he baptised Jesus Christ in the River Jordan.
His sacred image symbolises repentance, humility, spiritual purity and unwavering faith. His ascetic life and martyrdom remain an enduring example of complete devotion to God and courage in defending the truth.
A meaningful addition to a home prayer corner and a thoughtful Orthodox Christian gift for someone named John, Joanna or Ioanna.
