Description
Handmade Wooden Icon of Saint Tikhon. Saint Tikhon of Mount Athos was a Russian monk and ascetic of Mount Athos, known for his humility, simplicity, and unceasing prayer. He lived as a hermit in Kapsala on Mount Athos, entirely dedicated to God, with strict asceticism and spiritual struggle.
He was the spiritual father of Saint Paisios of Mount Athos, whom he guided in his first steps in monastic life, transmitting to him the experience of hesychasm and noetic prayer. Their relationship was deeply spiritual and decisive for the journey of Saint Paisios.
Saint Tikhon was distinguished for the simplicity of his heart, love for everyone, and complete trust in divine providence. He fell asleep in peace on Mount Athos, leaving behind an example of a sanctified life and genuine Orthodox asceticism.
The day of honor for Saint Tikhon is established to be celebrated every year on September 23.
