Description

The “Mary Untier of Knots” icon is one of the most moving depictions of the Theotokos. The Virgin Mary is portrayed with love and compassion as she unties the knots of a white ribbon, which symbolizes the problems, burdens, and struggles we encounter in our daily lives. Two angels flank her, offering the ribbon and holding the part that has already been untied, conveying the message of her intercession and divine assistance. At the top, the letters MP ΘΥ (Mother of God) confirm the holiness of the depiction.
