Handmade Icon – Transfiguration of Jesus Christ on Mount Tabor
This handmade Orthodox icon beautifully depicts the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ, one of the most significant feasts in Christianity. According to the New Testament, Christ ascended Mount Tabor to pray, accompanied by His closest Apostles: Peter, James, and John.
While they rested, they awoke to witness a divine moment — Jesus radiated light, His clothes turned dazzling white, and He conversed with Moses and the Prophet Elijah. This holy vision revealed the glory of Christ’s Deity and foreshadowed His Resurrection.
The Feast of the Transfiguration is celebrated each year on August 6, the date marking the dedication of the church built by Saint Helen, mother of Constantine the Great, on Mount Tabor.
