Saint Paisios of Mount Athos (1924–1994), born Arsenios Eznepidis in Farasa, Cappadocia, became one of the most beloved modern saints of the Orthodox Christian Church. He dedicated his life to monasticism, prayer and the spiritual guidance of countless people and spent much of his monastic life associated with Mount Athos. Remembered for his humility, compassion and spiritual teachings, Saint Paisios was officially canonized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate in 2015. His feast day is celebrated on July 12.
